Sign Language Home Tutoring
Sign language lessons for families with a deaf child.
- 1 hr1 hour
- Location 1
The Department of Education set up the ISL Home Tuition Scheme to support families wishing to learn Irish Sign Language to communicate with their deaf child. The scheme provides a qualified sign language tutor to visit the home once a week and deliver lessons. Research shows that children that are exposed to sign language from an early age will benefit greatly as it helps develop their language skills and will give children the ability to become bilingual in both Irish Sign Language and English. ISL tutors will not only teach families sign language but about deaf culture and identity too. Please get in touch for more information.
